Job Description

Maintain and manage the installation of Acoustiguide’s Opus Click audio tour hardware fleet on Alcatraz Island.

Reports to: Acoustiguide’s Senior Technical Engineer

Duties include:

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Complete minor repairs to the on-site Opus equipment (training provided) • Examine players designated by Alcatraz Visitor Services staff as broken to assess equipment for minor repairs that can be performed on-site or prepare equipment for shipping to off-site technicians for more extensive repair.
  • Coordinate shipments with Operations manager to and from Acoustiguide’s NJ based technical warehouse for repairs
  • Clean charging racks monthly – vacuum dust, check fans, etc. to optimize functionality

Equipment Management:

  • Work with the Alcatraz staff to maintain neat and organized charging and distribution areas
  • Keep accurate records for equipment, supplies and materials including repair logs

Testing:

  • Testing, evaluating, and prioritizing repairs to any equipment that the Alcatraz staff reports as nonfunctiona

Reporting:

  • Maintain frequent communication with Acoustiguide team as well as the onsite Alcatraz team
  • Prepare and deliver weekly reporting on repair logs and inventory counts to designated recipients
  • Keep Alcatraz informed of any unexpected delays in off-site repair

Operations Support:

  • Provide Alcatraz staff with on-going, as needed, training on the Acoustiguide equipment
  • Work with Alcatraz and Acoustiguide contacts in improving equipment maintenance, distribution, and collection methods
  • Serve as the Acoustiguide onsite liaison for all related concerns, responding if appropriate or promptly relaying information to the designated Acoustiguide staff member.

Other Acoustiguide Position Responsibilities:

  • Travel may be required occasionally to other local and/or national sites and/or the NJ warehouse
  • Other Duties as required

Experience Required:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • English proficiency is necessary for daily communication with Alcatraz and Acoustiguide staff in both verbal and written forms
  • Strong communications skills and attention to detail is required
  • Self-starter – the ability to productively work well alone is critical
  • Experience handling technology is preferred, but strong comfort of working with and explaining technology is required
  • Electronic repair or computer support is not necessary but is helpful • Customer support and/or retail experience is required
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Valid Driver’s License

Position Details:

  • Three to four weekdays, 24 – 32 hours/ week
  • Hourly rate $24 – $26
  • Sick days
