THE STATE HERMITAGE
The Hermitage in St. Petersburg began life in the mid-18th centry as the Small Hermitage with a collection of art owned by Catherine the Great. Today it is the second largest museum in the world, encompassing six buildings and over 3 million works of art. Every year, visitors come to the Hermitage to see masterpieces by Leonardo, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Rubens as well as artists from the later 19th and early 20th centuries such as Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, and Picasso. 1,000 Opus and Opus+ units circulate throughout the museum every day.
Ten to 15 hours of content are produced for both the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
